CREATE TO reCREATE HAITI : a creative arts BENEFIT

Charlotte, North Carolina, February 21, 2010 -- Charlotte is overflowing with artists who love to create. Many of them are joining together to exercise their creativity to help others. On March 12th and 13th 2010, a group of performers, writers, and visual artists will come together to raise money for disaster relief in Haiti. All proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe.

The event will take place at Story Slam! Arts Center located at 1401 Central Ave. in Charlotte, NC. The Doors open at 7pm on Friday evening, and will reopen again Saturday Morning at 10am. Admission is $10 for the whole weekend.

The weekend will consist of performances on Friday evening by local bands including The Activity, and Class Action!, as well as independent musicians Erin Dalton, Bill Mayo, Rory Tyer and many more. However, the weekend does not solely consist of music, but also includes performances by slam poets, dancers, and Haitian speakers. In addition to continued performances on Saturday there will be an art sale and silent auction featuring prints and original art from local visual artists. Kids are welcome too! Saturday morning will include classes for children to create by drawing, writing, and acting! Saturday evening will conclude with other performances including local improv group, The Chuckelheads.
